End-User License Agreement
Last updated: July 10, 2026
Draft — provided for transparency and not a substitute for legal advice.
This Agreement is between you and Square Pixel Software and governs your use of the Frame Archivist application (the “Software”). By installing or using the Software, you agree to it. If you do not agree, do not use the Software.
License granted
Upon purchase you receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the Software for your own photography work. A license key is issued to you and is tied to your name and email. You may install it on the devices you personally use.
What you may not do
- share, resell, sublicense, publish, or transfer your license key;
- circumvent, disable, or tamper with the licensing or activation mechanism;
- reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software, except to the limited extent this restriction is prohibited by applicable law;
- remove or alter any proprietary notices.
Licensing and activation check-in
The Software validates your license key on your device and works fully offline. While a license is active, the Software also periodically sends a brief, best-effort message to us containing your license ID and an anonymous device identifier, so we can verify licensing and detect key sharing. This check-in does not transmit your photos or personal content and does not prevent the Software from running if it cannot be sent. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Your content stays yours
The Software runs locally. Your photos, catalog, and metadata remain on your own devices and storage; we do not receive, access, or store them. You are responsible for your own backups — while the Software is built to verify copies, no software removes the need for your own backup discipline.
Updates
We may provide updates and bug fixes. [PLACEHOLDER: describe what your license covers — e.g. “free updates through version 1.x” — once finalized.]
No warranty
The Software is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Square Pixel Software and Chris Black will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data or images, arising from your use of the Software. Our total liability will not exceed the amount you paid for the license. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Termination
This license ends if you materially breach it (for example, by sharing your key). On termination you must stop using the Software. Sections that by their nature should survive (ownership, disclaimers, liability) continue to apply.
Governing law
This Agreement is governed by the laws of Alberta, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
