What it does

From the memory card to cold storage, handled properly.

Verified ingest

Offload a card once. Every file is SHA-256 checksum-verified after copy, with a manifest to prove it — then a plain verdict: safe to format, or not.

Backup in the same pass

Mirror to an external drive or NAS as you ingest — verified again. Slow Wi-Fi? Defer the mirror until the card offload finishes at full speed.

Organised on arrival

Project folder scaffolds, capture-date foldering, and batch renaming with live-preview templates. A June shoot lands in June, even ingested in July.

Metadata done safely

Copyright, creator, and keywords applied on ingest. RAW files get XMP sidecars — originals are never rewritten. JPEG gets clean embedded tags.

Timezone-true dates

Shot in Japan on an Edmonton clock? Type the place; the app resolves the timezone and corrects both filenames and date folders — on ingest or after the fact.

Archive to cold storage

Done editing? Push a verified copy to your NAS or drive. RAW originals are hash-checked and never overwritten; Lightroom XMP edits sync too. Then it’s safe to delete the local copies and reclaim space.

Nothing gets lost

Archived files stay in your catalog — badged, searchable, and safe. The app knows the difference between “on your disconnected NAS” and “actually gone,” so cleanup never touches your cold storage.

A catalog you can feel

Instant full-text search over your whole archive, in an interface with physical buttons, tactile sound, and a CRT that earns its patina.

Local-first

Frame Archivist runs entirely on your machine. Your photos, metadata, and catalog never touch our servers — the app's single network feature (place-name → timezone lookup) is optional and disclosed in the interface. Even license activation is verified offline.
